Sismos de hielo reportados desde Minnesota e Illinois a Pennsylvania
Desde Minnesota hasta Illinois y Pensilvania se están reportando fuertes estallidos al aire libre, grietas explosiones como temblores de hielo, también conocidos como temblores de heladas o técnicamente, crioseismos, comenzaron a aparecer en medio de temperaturas extremadamente frías.
"Básicamente, hace mucho frío afuera ahora que hay algo de humedad debajo de la superficie que está comenzando a congelarse", dijo el meteorólogo Ben Deubelbeiss, del Servicio Nacional de Meteorología.
"Cuando el agua se congela, comienza a expandirse y moverá el suelo, el subsuelo, las rocas y todo lo que lo rodea. Eso creará estos pequeños temblores en miniatura. El agrietamiento de cualquier suelo congelado bajo tierra es lo que hace sonar ese sonido de estallido que la gente hace. Oye ", dijo Deubelbeiss.
Los vientos árticos y ráfagas de viento continúan impactando una porción significativa del Medio Oeste Superior en el noreste, advirtieron los pronosticadores del NWS.
Las advertencias y avisos de frío del viento están vigentes hasta hoy. Las nieves pesadas de efecto lago también continúan a favor del viento de los Grandes Lagos.
A lo largo de este fin de semana, se esperan varias rondas de fuertes lluvias y nieves en las montañas a lo largo de California, con posibles inundaciones cerca de las quemaduras.
